House rules

Four points, and we mean all four. Every resident agrees to these before their credential is issued.

I · Quiet is shared property

The apartments are built for people who need to think. Walls are thick enough that your neighbour's playlist stays your neighbour's — and the same courtesy runs the other way. Quiet hours are from eleven at night until seven in the morning, every day.

II · The rooms belong to everyone

Six rooms serve two hundred residents, which only works if bookings are honest. Book what you will use. Turn up for it, or release it. Leave it as you found it.

Repeated no-shows cost you booking privileges for a fortnight. It is the only sanction we have that is fair to everyone else.

III · The door is yours alone

Your credential is not transferable, not to a friend, not to a partner, not for an evening. Guests come through the desk and are issued a pass with a name and an expiry on it.

Letting someone else use your credential is the one rule whose first breach is treated seriously, because it undoes the security everyone else is relying on.

IV · This is a community of Black excellence

Everyone here is owed the same respect you expect at the table. Harassment, intimidation or racist conduct ends a residency — there is no version of this house that tolerates it.

If something happens to you or in front of you, tell the desk. You will be believed, and you will not be the one who has to leave.
